Zara is the new face of terrorism someone who doesn't fit the profile, who can slip undetected from attack to attack, and who's intent on pursuing a personal vendetta at any cost.

Chasing Zara from Russia to war-torn Chechnya, to London, and finally to the suburbs of Washington D.C., Maggie risks her life to stop a deadly plot.

My Thoughts:

This is the sequel to The Wayward Spy.  Like the first book, this was an awesome book.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  This book also flowed as well.  The plot, was very very well written, and definitely something that I will read again.

As I was listening to this book, I was getting anxious hoping that Maggie would make it in time to stop the plot.  This book, gave me a range of emotions.  I cried, got angry, was stressed, and was relieved.

I would definitely recommend this book.  This is why I gave it five stars!

About the Author:

Susan Ouellette is a former intelligence analyst for the CIA.  Her debut novel The Wayward Spy heavily draws on the academic studies of international relations and Russian language and culture at both Harvard University and Boston University.  As the Soviet Union teeter on the edge of collapse, she worked as an intelligence analyst at the CIA, where she earned a commendation for her work done during the failed 1991 Soviet coup.

Subsequently, Ouellette worked on Capitol Hill as a professional staff member for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.  There she participated in several overseas staff and congressional delegations focused on intelligence cooperation with allies and classified operations against adversaries.

It was there, during quiet moments in the attic of the U.S. Capitol Building, that Ouellette conceived of Maggie Jenkins, the main character of The Wayward Spy.  She is an intrepid young woman thrust into a life threatening situation borne of tragedy.

Synopsis:

When her fiance', a CIA operative is accused of treason, and is killed overseas, intelligence analyst Maggie Jenkins smells cover-up and sets out to clear his name.  Maggie disobeys direct order and travels to Tbilsi, Georgia, to follow a trail littered with secrets and lies, corruption, and deceit, risking her own life to expose the terrorist threat at the intersection where the Russian Mafia, Chechen rebels, Al Qaeda and US government officials meet.

From the halls of power in Washington D.C, to the political chaos of the former Soviet Union, Maggie must confront players from the intelligence, political, and criminal worlds who will do anything to stop her.  How far will Maggie go to uncover the truth?

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book.  I can't really compare it, but it kind of reminds me of a Tom Clancy novel.  The story really flowed, and it was a definite page turner.  I sat on the edge of my seat cheering Maggie on as he worked on her own to find out who killed her fiance, and also who set him up.  She does go through a lot to get the truth, and I have to say she was a force to be reckoned with.

The plot was awesome, and I have to say I would definitely read this again and would definitely recommend this book to other readers.
